What We Did
Original Deck
The homeowner wanted to expand their living space by adding a new room. We removed 3’ of their existing deck to accommodate the customer's desired layout.
Construction Begins
Soon after the underground utility companies gave their “not in conflict" approval, the pier company arrived and drilled four 10” wide helical piers. They went between 6’ and 7’ deep as the property shares a boundary with a state forest which is partially classified as wetlands.
Subfloor Added
The subfloor is glued and screwed down. It can be difficult to achieve a new finished floor height that matches the existing finished floor height, but the existing floor was level and our flooring contractor had no problem tying the new pre-finished solid oak into the old.
Exterior Walls
The final shape of the room comes to light as the exterior zip sheathing is nailed and taped.
Windows & Siding
Similar siding and windows were installed just prior to the insulation and sheetrock installation.
Adding Access
The old window was removed, giving access to the new room. With the sheetrock and paint now done, our electrician and flooring contractor finished up, and then we installed the trim.
